1/25 Resin Hemi “426” Base Engine
This engine kit was assembled from various sources, starting with finding the best-detailed block from Revell’s ‘68 Dodge Dart Hemi. This engine block comes molded with the transmission so it was cut away then assembled and finished off to be a one-piece short engine. Although the side blocks and engine mounts were well-detailed, the front of the engine, like most engine kits, was lacking. The front of an older Revell dragster kit engine was more defined, which provided a better starting point. This engine was already in the process of being cast, using a resin copy a thin section was shaved down to splice onto the main block. Then the front of the kit block was milled down to fit the front of the dragster block in place. Another detail I wanted to include was the three ribs on the back of the block. I was able to find this detail in the Revell Tony Nancy 22 JR, so I decided to cast the top along with the inner block detail. The center was milled in the block master to fit in the rib detail along with the inside block detail. After a small amount of filling, the engine block master was finished and prepared for the mold-making procedure.

Revised: This kit has been updated from the previous version. The timing cover, oil filter, distributor base, harmonic damper, water pump housing, and fuel pump are cast from 3D-printed custom models that once printed were prepped and used as masters for the mold.

Beautiful casting! very nicely done as always from this caster. The parts are clean, flash-free, and look great. I may even build this one and display it on its own. Now I just need to decide on the Valve covers, the Mopar ones, or the Micky Thompsons! Hmmm Yeah, they will be the Mopars, I have a project planned for the MT’s.
