1/25 Revell 69 Nova SS SuperNova
This Revell 69 Nova SS is built as box art box stock and by no means is this being sold as a rebuilder. The body was started with the intention of being a detailed custom build, therefore the front side marker emblem was shaved smooth to only feature a 427 decal. Yes, it was going to get a big block, thus the 383 stroker decal was left off from the hood, so it differs slightly from the box art. Oh, and I suppose I also neglected to include those fake burnout rubber decals.
Before painting, the nova script was covered with bare metal foil, resulting in the crisp chrome emblems rather than the unattractive decal. On this body, I began with a light coat of self-etch primer and then experimented with a new product, the MrHobby PrimerSurfacer 1000. Since I intended to use ScaleFinishes yellow, I made the wise decision to lay down some Inspire Base white. Then I sprayed some Inspire intercoat clear to help protect the paint before applying the decals. Since I see so many modelers neglect this detail, I want to draw attention to the fact that the decals are cut and rolled into the door gaps. Cleared it with automotive clear 4:1, then thinned it with 3 parts reducer for airbrushing.
The assembly was quite straightforward, attempting to match the paint code and instructions for the race version. Although it appears that the side mirror was not intended for the race version, it is attached using Microscale klear adhesive so that it can be removed because, without it, there is an indent. It’s also the most likely item to come loose during shipping.
Now for the bad news: I failed to repair the divot in the rear driver’s sail panel from a faulty mold, and the front passenger tire is not lying flat. Will ship with the box, directions, and leftover optional decals.
